Last night I took an incredible class at The Brooklyn Kitchen - Pig Butchering 101 w/ Tom Mylan of Marlow + Sons. Yes, it sounds gruesome, but surprisingly it wasn’t. We took apart a half pig from top to bottom and along the way learned common cuts of meat, how each is best prepared, and the merits of the genetic diversity that comes along with farm raised pigs. I had dinner at the newly opened Williamsburg taquería La Superior last week and I give it an A+. Here are three things that make it great: 1> The menu is inspired by Mexican diner and street food - I recommend trying the ezquites 2> It’s BYOB and reasonably priced 3> The place is totally low key and friendly, our server offered to order for us when we couldn’t make up our minds
The Museum of the Moving Image has collected and cataloged presidential campaign commercials from 1952 - 2008. You can watch curated playlists, browse by topic, or search year by year. It is interesting to me to see how political advertising has evolved and how change, war, and taxes have been staple topics since the start. (via NYTimes)

The Fall for Dance Festival is the equivalent of a tasting menu for dance. For a night of classic favorites I would recommend the 9/26 and 9/27 program, which features San Francisco Ballet doing choreography by Jerome Robbins and Paul Taylor Dance Company performing his signature work, Esplanade. For something more up and coming, check out Shen Wei Dance Arts and Keigwin + Company on 9/17 and 9/18. Tickets sell out fast so buy ASAP!
When I’m much older and I have a family of my own, I’m going to build a treehouse like this for myself deep in the woods. It will be my grown-up-hide-out.
